Sell with NSB Auctions
Assets out. Capital in. Paperwork that holds up.
We manage the full disposal cycle for municipalities, government departments, mining houses, corporates, banks, liquidators and private sellers. Valuation and cataloguing, targeted marketing, auction execution, reconciled settlement.
Who we act for
You probably recognise your own situation here.
Disposal mandates rarely arrive as a tidy list of assets. They arrive as a depot that has run out of space, a fleet replacement cycle, a closure date, or a court instruction with a deadline attached.
A depot clearance
Decommissioned fleet, plant and stores that must leave the yard under MFMA rules.
A mine closure or downscale
Yellow metal, heavy plant, workshop equipment and spares, catalogued before they go to market.
A repossession portfolio
Repossessed vehicles, plant and stock realised through a secure, FICA-compliant process.
An office relocation
Furniture, technology and fittings surplus to the new site and expensive to store.
A hospitality refurbishment
Guest room furniture, kitchen and back-of-house equipment stripped out during a refit.
A business rescue or liquidation
Court-compliant disposal for liquidators and trustees, with creditors examining the route taken.
A mission or embassy rotation
Office, residential and fleet assets released with discretion and a documented outcome.
A surplus stores clearance
Departmental stores and surplus stock, reported to the standard the Auditor-General expects.

The NSB methodology
Four stages, one accountable process.
Every mandate runs the same route, whether it is a single excavator or an entire depot. Here is what each stage involves and what you sign off before we move to the next.

Valuation & cataloguing
Condition, specification, hours or mileage, serial and VIN numbers, known defects and photography, recorded lot by lot.
The valuation establishes a defensible reserve, and gives your auditors a documented basis for the figure each asset was released at.

Marketing & reach
Targeted campaigns through our verified buyer database, digital platforms and industry network, matched to the asset class.
Yellow metal goes to plant buyers. Fleet goes to fleet buyers. Competition among buyers who want the asset is what lifts the hammer price.

Auction execution
Live, online, timed-online or on-site, selected to suit the asset and the mandate. Bidding runs under clear published rules.
Every bid is recorded and every lot is traceable to the bidder who took it, so the outcome per lot is documented at the fall of the hammer.

Secure settlement
Buyer funds are collected, the account is reconciled against realised proceeds, and settlement is made with a detailed statement behind it.
The reporting pack is delivered to you and available to your auditors. Nothing has to be reconstructed later from memory.
Compliance & governance
The documentation pack is not an extra. It is the deliverable.
For a municipal finance officer or a liquidator, the price achieved is only half the question. The other half is whether the process holds up when it is examined.
NSB Auctions maintains strict administrative and governance standards. Every disposal produces a complete record, aligned to Auditor-General requirements and corporate governance best practice, so that the answer to "how was this asset released and to whom" is already on file.
What you receive on every mandate
- Comprehensive disposal report, lot by lot, showing what was offered and what was realised.
- FICA verification records for every bidder who transacts on your assets.
- Complete audit trail from instruction through marketing, bidding and award to removal.
- Financial reconciliation of proceeds against the catalogue and against settlement.
- Documentation aligned to Auditor-General requirements and corporate governance best practice.
- Valuation basis on record, so the reserve position for each lot is defensible after the fact.
Choosing an auction format
The format is a decision, not a default.
Four formats, each suited to a different asset profile, buyer pool and timeline. We recommend one at valuation stage and explain why.
| Format | How it runs | What it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Live | An auctioneer calls the lots in real time to a room of registered bidders, with the hammer falling on the day. | Assets with an established local buyer base, and mandates where an audience in one room creates the competitive tension. Useful when the seller wants a defined event and a same-day outcome. |
| Online | Bidding runs on the auction platform, with the auctioneer conducting the sale to a remote audience of verified bidders. | Assets with a national or cross-border buyer pool, where restricting bidding to whoever can travel would cost you value. Also suits mandates where a physical gathering is impractical. |
| Timed online | Each lot opens and closes at a published time. Bidders place bids across the window at their convenience rather than in a single sitting. | Large multi-lot catalogues, mixed asset classes, and disposals where buyers need time to inspect and evaluate before committing. Good for spreading interest across a wide catalogue. |
| On-site | The auction is conducted at the asset location, with bidders viewing and bidding where the assets stand. | Depot clearances, mine sites, factories and hotels, where assets are heavy, fixed, numerous or expensive to move. Buyers see the asset in place, which supports both confidence and price. |
Formats can be combined across a single mandate. A depot clearance may run on-site for the heavy plant and timed online for the loose stores and spares, under one instruction and one reporting pack.
Send us the asset list.
A schedule, an asset register or a set of photographs is enough for us to start.
Request a valuation
Tell us what you are holding.
The more detail you can give at this stage, the more useful our first response will be. If you have an asset register, a schedule or photographs, mention it in the description and we will tell you where to send it.
We will come back with a valuation view, a recommended auction format, and an indicative process for the mandate. Confidentiality applies from first contact, which matters particularly for mission, estate and business rescue mandates.

This form posts to /api/enquiry. The endpoint must be connected to the client's mailbox or CRM before go-live, otherwise submissions will not be delivered.
Seller questions
What sellers ask before they instruct us.
How does a disposal start?
It starts with a conversation and a description of what you are holding. From there we arrange an inspection and professional valuation of the assets, which establishes both the realistic market position and the reserve we would recommend per lot.
You receive our view of the assets, a recommended auction format and a proposed process before anything is committed to market. Nothing is advertised until the mandate is agreed.
What does it cost to sell through NSB Auctions?
Costs are set out in the mandate before you sign, so there is no ambiguity about what is deducted from proceeds. The mandate specifies the commission basis, any marketing or logistics costs that apply to your disposal, and how each is treated at settlement.
Fee structures and current rates are confirmed by our team at the point of quoting. Contact us for the figures that apply to your mandate.
Do I set the reserve, or do you?
The reserve is agreed, not imposed. Our valuation gives you a documented basis for what each lot is realistically worth in the current market, and you confirm the reserve position from there.
That documented basis is what makes the outcome defensible afterwards. If a lot sells at a particular figure, there is a recorded valuation behind the decision to release it at that level.
What reporting do I get afterwards?
A comprehensive disposal report, lot by lot, showing what was offered and what was realised. Alongside it you receive FICA verification records for transacting bidders, a complete audit trail from instruction to settlement, and a financial reconciliation of proceeds.
The pack is built for examination. It is aligned to Auditor-General requirements and corporate governance best practice, which is the standard our municipal, government and liquidation mandates are held to.
Can you handle assets across more than one site or province?
Yes. Multi-site mandates are catalogued site by site and can be brought to market together or in phases, depending on what serves the assets and your timeline better.
Format can also vary within one mandate. Heavy plant that is expensive to move may sell on-site, while loose stores and equipment from the same instruction run timed online. The reporting still comes back as one reconciled pack.
Ready to move what is standing still?
Send us the detail. We will come back with a valuation view, the right auction format, and a timeline you can put in front of your committee.
